The Beacon of Hope is Fading
“For Republicans, Vladimir Putin is more of an ally than Biden. This is a death sentence for America’s leadership and its foreign policy.” Words of Alexei Naumov of the Russian International Affairs Council. Russian TV and Putin regularly glorifies the January 6th rioters at the capitol building as “freedom fighters”. Russia encourages and supports such violence against the US government. Lately, Trump and Fox News are repeating what Putin and the Russian propaganda Machine say about America and its policies.
During the Trumpian era, there were several “Russian assets” in the administration starting from the very top. And many of them are still in Congress and the Senate. They are willing partners of Russia who want to destroy American democracy and establish a One- Party rule with authoritarian tendencies. And they are changing election laws at the state level to guarantee that they will always be in power. The changes they made in how elections are conducted and the results are determined will shift the power to elect their leaders from the people to some politicians in the state assemblies. The state legislature will wield the authority to override popular votes and election results. That will be the death sentence to American Democracy and the ultimate decline of American exceptionalism. That is the Russian intention. China also will support such a move.
